Since September of 2024, detectives with the 3 District (Welland/Fonthill) Street Crime Unit began an investigation into break and enters at construction sites that were occurring in City of Welland.

As a result of the investigation, detectives were able to identify two suspects.

On October 16th, 2024 detectives executed a search warrant at a residence in the area of Niagara Street and Lancaster Drive in the City of Welland.  As a result, the following items were located:

  • Multiple Bottles of Stolen Alcohol
  • Keys to Heavy Equipment


On October 16, 2024, Steven MAMONE (29 years old) of Welland, was arrested and charged with the following offences:

  • Theft of Motor Vehicle – Heavy Machinery from a Construction Site
  • Possession of Stolen Property
  • Break and Enter (5 Counts)
  • Fail to comply

Steven was held in custody pending a bail hearing that is expected to take place on October 17, 2024 at the Robert S.K. Welch Courthouse, located at 59 Church Street in the City of St. Catharines

Jonathan MAMONE (29 years old) of Welland, is currently in custody and will be facing the following charges:

  • Theft of Motor Vehicle – Heavy Machinery from a Construction Site
  • Possession of Stolen Property
  • Break and Enter (5 Counts)
  • Fail to comply
