On May 28, 2024 at 11:57am, 8 District (Grimsby/Lincoln) uniform officers with the Niagara Regional Police Service, were on routine patrol in the area of Townline Road and Township of West Lincoln, when they observed that the Regional Speed Enforcement Camera located on the north side of the road was laying on the ground.
Uniform officers then attended the area of Station Street and Hornak Road in the Township of West Lincoln, to observe that a second Regional Speed enforcement camera located on the east side of the roadway was also laying on the ground.
Investigation determined that at an unspecified date/time, an unknown suspect/s had intentionally vandalized the poles holding up the speed cameras by cutting through them with some type of mechanical chop saw tool.
8 District detectives (Grimsby/Lincoln) have taken carriage of the investigation.
The Region of Niagara are aware of the acts of vandalism.
Detectives are asking the public to contact police if anyone has any video/dash cam footage in the area.
