On February 7, 2025, 1 District (St. Catharines/Thorold) uniform officers with the Niagara Regional Police Service (NRPS) responded to a commercial break and enter related call for service in the area of Louth Street and Rykert Street in the City of St. Catharines.
The investigation was assigned to 1 District Street Crime Unit (SCU) detectives. As a result, detectives identified a male suspect. On Friday, February 21, 2025, detectives arrested and charged Kitchener resident Alex VIKSNE (38 years old) with the following Criminal Code offences:
- Break Enter and Commit
- Possession of Break-In Instruments
- Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Under $5000 (2 Counts)
VIKSNE has been held in custody pending a bail hearing scheduled to take place on February 22, 2025, via video link to the Robert S.K. Welch Courthouse located at 59 Church Street in the City of St. Catharines.
