On April 16, 2025, the Niagara Regional Police Service (NRPS), Halton Regional Police Service, Hamilton Police Service, Ontario Provincial Police, and the Ministry of Transportation (MTO) partnered for a joint commercial motor vehicle enforcement initiative in and around the Town of Lincoln.

In response to community concerns regarding increased commercial vehicle traffic in the Lincoln and Vineland areas, the initiative focused on identifying commercial motor vehicles intentionally bypassing the Town of Lincoln Inspection Station on the Queen Elizabeth Way (QEW). Officers conducted in-depth vehicle inspections to ensure compliance with Ontario’s legislated road safety standards.

A total of 35 vehicles were thoroughly inspected. As a result, 14 vehicles (40 per cent) were removed from service due to significant safety concerns. Two sets of licence plates were also seized. In total, 22 charges were laid, including for failing to comply with administrative requirements such as daily inspections and registration.

Out-of-service defects identified included brake adjustments and insecure loads.

The Niagara Regional Police Service remains committed to enhancing road safety, as outlined in the 2022–2025 Strategic Plan. Members of the public wishing to report traffic complaints are encouraged to contact our Traffic Enforcement Unit (TEU) by telephone at 905-688-4111, option 3, extension 1025555, or by email at trafficcomplaints@niagarapolice.ca .
