On Tuesday February 11th, 2025, at approximately 9:25am, police attended the area of Tasker Street and Queenston Street in the City of St. Catharines in response to an armed person call for service.

Investigation revealed a male suspect was in the area and in possession of a loaded handgun. Through investigation by the Niagara Regional Police Service, officers were able to identify the suspect.

Uniform officers, detectives with 1 District (St. Catharines/Thorold), detectives with the 1 District Street Crime Unit, the K9 Unit and the Emergency Task Unit with the Niagara Regional Police Service all attended the scene and the suspect was located in the area of Vine Street and Ricci Avenue in the City of St. Catharines.  When officers approached the male to place him under arrest, the suspect reached for his handgun that was concealed in his waistband.

Officers were able to arrest the suspect safely and a search warrant was executed in the area of Clara Street and Taylor Street in Thorold. As a result,  the following was seized:

  • Handgun
  • $1993 in Canadian Currency
  • 416.10 grams of suspected fentanyl

Codee LAMURE-VANDUZEN (18 years old) of Thorold, was arrested and charged with the following offences:

  • Possess Firearm Without Holding a Licence
  • Possess Restricted or Prohibited Firearm Knowingly
  • Firearm, weapon, ammunition careless use (2 Counts)
  • Prohibited or restricted firearm: with ammunition
  • Weapon, possession for dangerous purpose
  • Weapon: carrying concealed weapon
  • Firearm: tampering with serial number
  • Firearm: possession contrary to prohibition order
  • Assault Peace Officer with a Weapon
  • Possession of Proceeds of Crime Under $5000
  • Possession of a Schedule I Substance FTP (Opioid Fentanyl)

LAMURE-VANDUZEN was held in custody pending a bail hearing that is expected to take place on February 12, 2025, at the Robert S.K. Welch Courthouse, located at 59 Church Street in the City of St. Catahrines.
