In the beginning of December, 2024, detectives from 1 District (St. Catharines/Thorold) with the Niagara Regional Police Service began an investigation into vehicles being stolen and several vehicle break ins, in the area of Roehampton Avenue, in the City of St. Catharines.
As a result of the investigation, detectives were able to identify a male suspect.
On December 6, 2024, at approximately 2:15am, detectives located a stolen vehicle in a parking lot in the area of Welland Avenue and Grantham Avenue in the City of St. Catharines. Officers attempted to pull the vehicle over however the suspect in the vehicle reversed and collided with a cruiser and fled the scene.
On December 6, 2024, detectives were able to locate the suspect. Investigation revealed it was the same suspect responsible for multiple stolen vehicles and vehicle break ins that have occurred since the beginning of December.
A 15-year-old male from St. Catharines was arrested and charged with the following offences:
- Possession of property obtained by crime
- Theft of motor vehicle (2 Counts)
- Mischief
- Dangerous Operation
- Flight from police
He was held in custody pending a bail hearing that is expected to take place on December 7, 2024 at the Robert S.K. Welch Courthouse located at 59 Church Street in the City of St.Catharines.

The Youth Criminal Justice Act of Canada prohibits the Niagara Region Police Service from releasing the identity of the accused.
