Ervin has been located and is safe. The NRPS would like to thank the media and the public for their help in this matter.  

We have removed his photo from the original media release and our social media.  We would ask the public and media to consider doing the same for his their privacy. 

Original Release -

Officers from 5 District (Fort Erie) of the Niagara Regional Police Service (NRPS) are searching for missing person Ervin Smith.

Ervin was last seen on October 29, 2024 at approximately 3:38pm, in the area of Lakeview Road near Lakehurst Avenue in Fort Erie. 

He is believed to be on foot. 

Ervin suffers from a medical condition.  He also may be in the Hamilton or Peel area. 

Ervin is described as:

  • White male
  • Slim build
  • 5’7 feet tall
  • White hair with bald spot at the back
  • Prescription glasses
  • Wearing blue jeans, black coat, green shoes, black hat

The police and Ervin’s family are concerned for his welfare.  Anyone who may have information as to his location are asked to contact detectives at 905-688-4111, option 3, extension 1024325.

Members of the public who wish to provide information anonymously can contact Crime Stoppers of Niagara online or by calling 1-800-222-8477.  Crime Stoppers offers cash rewards to persons who contact the program with information which leads to an arrest.
