In February of 2025, members of the Niagara Regional Police Service (NRPS) 2 District (Niagara Falls/Niagara-on-the-Lake) Street Crime and Opioid Enforcement and Education Unit (OEEU) began an investigation into the alleged sale of drugs from a Niagara Falls address.
With the assistance of the Emergency Task Unit (ETU), on Thursday, March 20, 2025, a Controlled Drugs and Substances Act search warrant was executed at the residence, arresting three people.
In total, police seized:
263 grams of suspected Fentanyl with an approximate street value of $9000
121 grams of suspected Methamphetamine (Crystal Meth) with an approximate street value of $2400
102 grams of suspected Cocaine with an approximate street value of $10,000
As a result, 38-year-old Correll Slawter of Niagara Falls is charged with:
- Possession of a Schedule I Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking (Fentanyl) contrary to section 5(2) of the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act
- Possession of a Schedule I Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking (Methamphetamine) ) contrary to section 5(2) of the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act
- Possession of a Schedule I Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking (Cocaine) contrary to section 5(2) of the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act
- Possession of Proceeds of Crime Under $5000 contrary to section 355(b) of the Criminal Code
- Assault with the intent to resist arrest contrary to section 270 (1)(b)
34-year-old John McMullen of Niagara Falls is charged with:
- Possession of a Schedule I Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking (Fentanyl) contrary to section 5(2) of the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act
- Possession of a Schedule I Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking (Methamphetamine) contrary to section 5(2) of the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act
- Possession of a Schedule I Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking (Cocaine) contrary to section 5(2) of the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act
- Failing to Comply with Release Order contrary to section 145(5) of the Criminal Code of Canada
34-year-old Michelle Filliter of Niagara Falls was arrested on an outstanding warrant for Failing to Comply with Probation contrary to section 733.1(1)
Slawter, McMullen, and Filliter are currently being held in custody pending a bail hearing on Friday, March 21, 2025, at the Robert S.K. Welch Courthouse in the City of St. Catharines.
The NRPS Opioid Enforcement and Education Unit (OEEU) is funded by the Ontario Government’s Community and Safety Policing Grant. The OEEU is a Niagara Regional Police Service initiative focused on education regarding the risk associated with illicit opioid use, while incorporating enforcement to address opioid-related issues within our community.
