On April 16, 2025, at 4:39 a.m., emergency services personnel responded to a report of a house on fire in Niagara-on-the-Lake.
Uniform officers from 2 District (Niagara Falls/Niagara-on-the-Lake) of the Niagara Regional Police Service (NRPS), along with members of the Niagara-on-the-Lake Fire Service, attended a residence on the Niagara River Parkway between Line 8 Road and Line 6 Road. The home was fully engulfed in flames, resulting in extensive damage.
The affected property was identified as Glencairn Hall, a historic building that was designated a heritage site in 2024.
At the time of the fire, the residence was unoccupied.
Fire service personnel were able to extinguish the blaze. A preliminary investigation has deemed the fire suspicious in nature.
Detectives from 2 District have been assigned to the case and are working in partnership with the Office of the Fire Marshal to determine the cause of the fire.
The scene is being held for further investigation, pending a structural assessment.
