On October 2, 2024, at 2:49 p.m. emergency services personnel responded to John Allan Park in the City of Niagara Falls for a report of a disturbance.  John Allan Park is located near Kalar Road and McLeod Road.

When 2 District (Niagara Falls/Niagara on the Lake) uniform officers from the Niagara Regional Police Service (NRPS), arrived on scene they found an adult male suffering from critical injuries.  Despite medical intervention efforts by Niagara Emergency Medical Services and the Niagara Falls Fire Service, the male was pronounced deceased at the scene.

Officers from the NRPS Emergency Task Unit along with the NRPS K9 Unit conducted a search of the area and were not able to locate a suspect.

Detectives from the NRPS Homicide Unit have taken carriage of the investigation. Investigators are being assisted by the 2 District detective office and the Forensic Services Unit.  The investigation is in its early stages. Detectives are attempting to develop a description for the unknown suspect.

There is no information to suggest that there is an immediate threat to the safety of the public stemming from this incident. 

The public should expect to see a heavy police presence in the area for the next couple days, during which time the park will remain closed.
