On April 16, 2025, at approximately 11:05 p.m., uniform officers from 1 District (St. Catharines/Thorold) of the Niagara Regional Police Service (NRPS) responded to a report of a violent residential robbery in St. Catharines.
Officers attended a residence in the area of Ball Avenue East and Merritt Street. The initial investigation determined that an adult male victim was in his home when he was awoken by two unknown male suspects. The suspects were brandishing a weapon and assaulted the victim. He sustained minor injuries. The suspects fled the scene with stolen cash and credit cards.
The identity of the suspects is currently unknown. Detectives are continuing to develop suspect descriptions.

Residents or business owners who were in the area between 10 p.m. and 11:45 p.m. on April 16, 2025, and who may have surveillance footage (cellphone, CCTV, or dashcam), are asked to review it for anything suspicious and contact police if relevant information is found.
