Detectives from the Niagara Regional Police Service (NRPS) Sexual Assault Unit are investigating a sexual assault that occurred on a public transit bus travelling between Niagara Falls and St. Catharines.
The initial investigation has determined that on April 17, 2025, at approximately 7:05 a.m., the adult female victim boarded a public transit bus near Morrison Street and Dorchester Road in Niagara Falls. The bus was bound for St. Catharines. While onboard, the victim was sexually assaulted by an unknown male.
At approximately 7:40 a.m., the victim exited the bus on Welland Avenue near Geneva Street in St. Catharines. The suspect also exited the bus at that location and was last seen running in a northwesterly direction.
The victim was not physically injured.
The unknown suspect (see photos) is described as:
- Black male, 20–30 years old
- Approximately six feet tall
- Slender build
- Short black hair
- Dark complexion
At the time of the incident, the suspect was believed to be wearing:
- Black coat with a red liner
- Grey hoodie with white logo on the chest
- Black balaclava
- Grey Pyjama bottoms with black jeans or shorts worn underneath.
- Carrying a PC Optimum-branded black cloth shopping bag and a white bag
- White shoes

Anyone — residents or business owners — who may have been in the area of Montrose Road/Dorchester Road in Niagara Falls and Welland Avenue/Geneva Street in St. Catharines and has cell phone, closed-circuit video, or dash camera footage from between 7:00 a.m. and 8:00 a.m. on April 17, 2025, is asked to review their footage and contact police if anything suspicious is observed.
