Human remains located in West Lincoln - Update - Identified

On April 9, 2022 Kyle Brocklebank was reported missing and was last seen on March 24th, 2022 in Smithville.  As a result, 8 District (Grimsby/West Lincoln/Lincoln) detectives have been continuing to investigate the matter.

Male Arrested in Relation to Firearm Charges in Niagara Falls

On Tuesday, October 22, 2024 at approximately 8:05am, 2 District (Niagara Falls/Niagara-on-the-Lake) uniform officers with the Niagara Regional Police Service attended the area of Stanley Avenue and North Street in the City of Niagara Falls.

Investigation revealed that a male suspect and an adult female were in a physical altercation which escalated to the male suspect pinning the female against the wall, throwing her phone, and pushing her to the ground.

Firearms and Drug Investigation in Niagara Falls Leads to Two Arrests

On October 17, 2024, Detectives assigned to the 2 District (Niagara Falls/NOTL) Street Crime Unit concluded a firearms investigation which resulted in the arrest of a Niagara Falls resident after a brief foot pursuit.

As a result of the arrest, police seized a loaded 38 Special revolver (in possession of the male). The arrest was followed by the execution of two separate Criminal Code search warrants at a Niagara Falls residence and a hotel room.

Detectives Investigating Fire with a Fatality in West Lincoln

At approximately 5:30pm on Thursday, October 17, 2024, 8 District (Grimsby/West Lincoln/Lincoln) uniform officers with the Niagara Regional Police Service attended the area of Caistor Centre Road and Concession Road 5 In West Lincoln in regards to a fire call.

UPDATE 3 - Detectives Investigating Smithville Homicide

As a result of continued investigation, on Thursday October 10, 2024, Homicide Unit detectives arrested a suspect in connection to the death of Cathy Prosje.

42-year-old Joseph Villneff of Smithville is facing the following charge:

-       First Degree Murder

Villneff is currently being held in custody pending a bail hearing on Friday October 11, 2024, at the Robert S.K. Welch Courthouse in the City of St. Catharines.

Cathy was located deceased in their shared Smithville home on April 26, 2024.
