Continued investigation by detectives with the Niagara Regional Police Service Homicide Unit has led to the identification of a suspect in the death of Jessica Lynn St. Jules.

On Tuesday July 2, 2024, 20-year-old Pedro Benitez Leal of Hamilton was arrested and charged with:

On Friday June 28, 2024, at approximately 6:50pm, 1 District (St. Catharines/Thorold) uniform officers were called to Pen Centre on Glendale Avenue in the City of St. Catharines following the report of a robbery that had just occurred. During the month of June 2024 detectives from the 3 District (Welland/Pelham) Street Crime Unit with the Niagara Regional Police Service began an investigation into the sale of illegal drugs in the City of Port Colborne.

As a result of the investigation a suspect residence was identified. On June 26, 2024, detectives executed a Controlled Drugs and Substances Act search warrant at an address on Steele Street. Detectives arrested three people found in the residence.
