6 District (Port Colborne/Wainfleet) Closure

CLOSURE NOTICE

As of Tuesday, February 18th , our 6 District – Port Colborne/Wainfleet Station will be closed to the public while the Region completes renovations to make the building more accessible for the community we serve.

We anticipate the closure lasting 60 days, and will advise when it has reopened.

During this time, Police Checks will still be available through our other districts and online. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause

Male Arrested in Relation to Break and Enters in St. Catharines

In January of 2025,  1 District (St. Catharines/Thorold) Street Crime detectives with the Niagara Regional Police Service began an investigation into break and enters that were occurring at dealerships and auto repair shops, in the City of St. Catharines.

Investigation revealed the suspect was breaking into the businesses, taking key fobs, then stealing the vehicle linked to the key.

As a result of the investigation, detectives were able to identify a male suspect responsible.

On Thursday, February 6, 2025, at approximately 12:50am, 1 District (St. Catharines/Thorold) uniform officers with the Niagara Regional Police Service attended the area of Glendale Avenue and Welland Canals Parkway in the City of St. Catharines for a motor vehicle collision with fatal injuries.

2025 Criteria Changes to use a Collision Reporting Centre (CRC) - Niagara

On January 1, 2025, some of the criteria for reporting a collision in Ontario changed to allow more access to Collision Reporting Centres (CRC).  The Niagara Regional Police Service (NRPS) has three Collision Reporting Centres in the Niagara Region (St. Catharines / Niagara Falls / Welland).
