Minimum Qualifications - Constable
The minimum qualifications to become a Police Constable are:
- Be a Canadian citizen or permanent resident of Canada.
- Be at least eighteen (18) years of age.
- Be physically and mentally able to perform the duties of the position, having regard to his or her own safety and the safety of the public.
- Be of good moral character and habits.
- Has successfully completed at least four (4) years of secondary school education or its equivalent.
- Possess a valid driver's licence with no more than six accumulated demerit points, permitting you to drive an automobile in Ontario with full driving privileges.
- Possess a valid first aid certificate and CPR certificate. Must be from an approved First Aid/CPR provider.
- Must have no criminal convictions for which a pardon has not been granted.
- Must successfully complete the Pre-Application Assessment for Police Constable conducted through the Ontario Association of Chiefs of Police (www.oacpcertificate.ca).
