NRPS Investigating Shooting Incident on Princess Ann Circle – St. Catharines Update 1

Niagara Regional Police Service (NRPS) 1 District (St. Catharines/Thorold) detectives in St. Catharines continue to investigate a Princess Ann Circle shooting incident.

The incident occurred January 9. 2025 at approximately 12:11pm inside a Princess Ann Circle home. The 24-year-old male victim is still in hospital in serious condition.

The unknown suspect is described as:

• South Asian male
• Blue winter toque
• Dark jacket

UPDATE 4 - Detectives Investigating Smithville Homicide

As a result of continued investigation, on Thursday January 9, 2025, Homicide Unit Detectives arrested a suspect in connection to the death of Cathy Prosje.

55-year-old Carolyn Prosje, sister of the deceased, is facing the following charge:

-       Accessory after the fact to murder

Carolyn Prosje is currently being held in custody pending a bail hearing on Friday January 10, 2025, at the Robert S.K. Welch Courthouse in the City of St. Catharines.

Suspicious Sudden Death in St. Catharines

Detectives are investigating following the suspicious sudden death of an adult female in the City of St. Catharines. 

At approximately 9:30am on Thursday January 9, 2025, 1 District (St. Catharines/Thorold) uniform officers were called to an apartment in the area of Church and Court Streets.

When they arrived, they discovered a 67-year-old female deceased inside the apartment.

At this time, no arrests have been made.

On January 9, 2025, at 12:11pm our 1 District (St. Catharines/ Thorold) uniform officers responded to Princess Ann Circle in St. Catharines for a possible shooting. Officers arrived on scene and found a victim suffering from serious injuries. The victim was treated by Niagara Emergency Medical Services paramedics and transported to an out of region hospital.
