6 People Arrested in Relation to Drug and Weapon Charges in Welland

In April of 2024, the 3 District (Welland/Fonthill) Street Crime Unit with the Niagara Regional Police Service began an investigation into the trafficking of illegal drugs from a residence in the area of Hennipen Avenue and Southworth Street in the City of Welland.

As a result of the investigation, detectives were able to identify multiple suspects responsible.

Threats Call at Pope Francis Centre Deemed Invalid

On Wednesday, November 6th, 2024 at approximately 1:35pm, 1 District (St. Catharines/Thorold) uniform officers with the Niagara Regional Police Service attended Pope Francis Centre located at 25 Whyte Avenue N in the City of Thorold for a possible threat made to the school.   Out of an abundance of caution the school was placed on a hold and secure.   Further investigation revealed the threat to be invalid.   The hold and secure was lifted and all students were able to leave the school safely.   Anyone...

NRPS Child Abuse Unit Investigation Results in the Arrest of a London Man

Since August of 2023 detectives from the Niagara Regional Police Service (NRPS) have been investigating an allegation of a sexual assault by an adult male against a 15-year-old female victim.

PUBLIC NOTICE – NRPS Training November 4, 2024 – St. Catharines

On November 4, 2024, the Niagara Regional Police Service will be conducting indoor/outdoor training at our 1 District office, located at 198 Welland Avenue in the City of St. Catharines.

The training will occur between the hours of 9:00AM – 4:00PM.

Members of the public in the area should expect:

      •     The sound of simulated gun fire.

      •     An increased police presence.

There will also be signage in the area regarding the training.

Traffic in the immediate area should not be affected.
