The Finance Unit is responsible for the overall financial management of the Niagara Regional Police Service and Board. This is accomplished through the adherence to the following objectives:

Managing compliance and financial control through the development of efficient and effective business processes

Leading the financial planning of the Annual Operating and Capital Budget to support the Service's strategic plan and reporting on its performance

Providing financial analysis and information to support effective decision making to all levels of the Service

Promoting professional development of staff to strengthen competencies in the area of payroll, financial and managerial accounting

Encouraging excellence towards customer service by focusing on the changing needs of our clients and regional partners
The Unit achieves these objectives through the core functions:

Accounting Services – provides the day to day accounting functions of time and attendance, payroll, accounts payable and accounts receivables. The unit is responsible for ensuring compliance to prescribed accounting standards as well as legislated regulations through the development of effective business processes.
- Financial Planning, Reporting and Analysis – leads the Service in the development of the annual operating and capital budget planning process as well as reporting on the Service's financial performance through variance analysis and forecasting. Further, the unit supports the decision making process for the Service by providing financial analysis and financial information to all levels of the Service.
